Continue reading below to find out more!

1. Less Is Sometimes More

During your trade show event, you most likely have a lot of information that you want to share with your customers. However, it’s important to understand that not everything can or should be placed on your banner. When it comes to designing a banner, more often than not, less is more.

The main purpose of your retractable banner is to grab the attention of those walking by and pull them in. Once you have their attention, then you can provide them with more information. Keep this in mind and only use text that’s necessary.

The more text you place on the banner, the more you take away from the banner’s overall design and impact on the people walking past it. Stick to basic text or simple statements. Steer clear of long sentences altogether.

2. Use High-Resolution Images

Any images that you decide to place on your banner are going to be one of the main features of the banner. These images are going to be what draws the most attention to your booth. Because of this, you want to ensure that all images are of high resolution.

Remember that when you’re using an image for your banner, it’s going to be blown up quite a bit. When it’s blown up, any flaws in the image are going to show significantly. You’ll want to use images that are of 300 dpi at the least.

And it’s always best to take the images directly from the camera. Using these high-quality images is going to reflect your professionalism.

3. Take Your Brand’s Colors Into Consideration

As you’re making your banner, keep in mind that now is the time to go big or go home. You want to use colors that’ll catch the eye of those walking by and stand out from the booths around you. Use colors that’ll create a striking design.

However, you also need to keep in mind that using your brand’s colors plays a significant part in the design as well. Include your brand’s colors into your banner’s design where possible. See what works well with your design and incorporate them accordingly.

4. Display Text Top to Bottom and Left to Right

Because we read from top to bottom and from left to right, you want to keep this same flow on your banner. This is going to make for the best readability. Remember, people are walking past your booth and won’t necessarily stop to read what it is.

Because of this, you want your banner to be read quickly and easily. And placing the text in this format is going to create just that. Trying to get too quirky with the text such as placing it on the sides or such isn’t going to benefit you.

Chances are, people won’t turn their heads to see what it says. Keep things simple and those walking by will be able to read your information without even having to stop.

5. Place Most Important Information on the Top

A good rule of thumb is to place the most important information at the top of the banner. This is what the majority of the people are going to see when walking past. Take your brand’s logo and place this at the top of the banner for this reason.

That way, your brand can be seen and recognized from a distance. Any other key messages and other important details should be within the top fifth of the banner.

6. Give Contact Information and Social Medias

Don’t forget to add your company’s contact information and social media accounts as well. You’ll want your customers to easily find how to contact you. Whether this is a telephone number, and email address, or a physical address, be sure the text is large enough for everyone to read.

With social media rising to one of the top ways to market, you’ll want to ensure you include each active account that your company has. You could even give incentive for following your accounts such as a coupon, entry into a raffle or drawing, or a free prize.

7. Highlight Your Call to Action

The last tip to keep in mind is to add a call to action on your banner. Think about the main purpose of your trade show booth and what you’re looking to get from the customers. Are you wanting them to sign up and create an account with you?

Do you want them to make a purchase? Whatever you’re wanting from your customers, place this in a call to action on your banner. For example, if you’re a supplier, you can say something like, “Work with a leading supplier today!”
